New Wii Fit Island Running Tip!!

Thanks to BB who posted in the comment section on my earlier Wii Fit Running blog the following tip:

If you pass the running guide, and then follow the dog, you will go on an entirely different path, and get to see more of the island. I tried it out today, and it’s really cool!

Thank you for the tip!Β  πŸ™‚

Also, have any of you seen the characters from previous Nintendo games? They are:

  • Mario
  • Luigi
  • Star
  • Mushroom
  • Goomba
  • Toad

There are fifteen of them all throughout Wii Fit Island.Β  I think it’ll be fun trying to find them, and thanks to the tip above, we have more places to look!

Any other tips or secrets that you have discovered on the Wii Fit?

I think the paths vary anyway… or maybe I’m wrong, maybe I have followed the dog before along a different path.

I find that running is more challenging if I hold 4 pound handweights while I run. Another option is running on the treadmill with the wiimote in your hand.

    Hi Allison

Using the handweights is an excellent idea. I was hoping to run on the treadmill as well, but it’s too far away in another room.

Thanks for the handweights idea though–I think I will take advantage of that!

Actually, your path may encounter as many as three (3) different dogs (of different colors). And when the 2nd/3rd arrives, it matters whether you began chasing the earlier ones or not. Hence, there are more than a dozen different paths around the island.

Here’s a fun one. Begin a LONG distance run (not the ISLAND LAP), and
skip the first two dogs (dont overtake your trainer), but when the 3rd arrives, begin chasing the 3rd one (the dog is dark brown). This dog will take you down to the beach, and you can splash in the waves. 😎

Our family loves this game. It should be a separate game (with more virtual worlds) because it doesnt require the Wii Fit balance board.

There are 12 different running paths.
The key to changing paths is via the dogs.
When a dog passes you from behind, you can either continue

running (behind your trainer) SKIPPING the dog.
-OR- You can sprint past your trainer and FOLLOW the dog.
You may encounter as many as three different dogs during
    your run.

In the table below, for example, a dog code of SSF means…
Skip (S) the 1st dog you encounter,
Skip (S) the 2nd dog you encounter,
Follow (F) the 3rd dog you encounter.

    PATH DOGCODE FINISH LINE
    ======= ======= ==========================
SHORT S Normal SHORT finish line
    SHORT F ?

LONG SSS Normal LONG Start/Finish Line
LONG SSF On Beach before Camel Rock
LONG SF High Cliff looking @Lthouse
    LONG F Under Windmills

    IsLAP SS Normal LAP Finish/Fountain
IsLAP SFF At Top of Summit Falls
IsLAP FS In City at 3-Ramps Park
IsLAP FFS Sandy Area thru Summit Cave
    IsLAP FFF At Lighthouse
IsLAP SFS At Beach thru Camel Rock
